Snow is forecast for Saturday
The Met Office have issued an England-wide level three Cold Weather Alert for the next few days and, although we are likely to avoid the worst of the conditions, Leek is still in line for a snowy weekend.
The weather warning suggests that temperatures will continue to fall, possibly to as low as -9 overnight tonight.
The likelihood of snow will be at it's strongest throughout Saturday afternoon and evening, with up to 5cm forecast. The potential for snow carries on into Sunday, but at the moment, it looks like eastern areas are going to be worst affected.
Temperatures are then predicted to climb from Sunday, but are not expected to exceed 2 celsius.
The Met Office website carries information on how to keep yourself and elderly relatives safe during the cold snap. All the details can be found at www.metoffice.gov.uk.
