    Leek College is offering jobless locals the chance to boost their employment prospects. The college is offering free courses - in areas such as engineering and welding, care, and business and IT - to people claiming jobseeker's allowance, employment support allowance or other benefits.     Leek High is one of the county's most improved schools
    One Leek school has been given reason to celebrate as the secondary school league tables were released today. Leek High School was named the second most improved school in Staffordshire with regards to GCSE results, after their results shot up by 16%.     October is Breast Cancer Awareness month
    Students at two Leek schools have raised £1,000 for breast cancer charities. Youngsters from The Meadows Special School joined pupils from co-located Leek High School at the Springfield Road campus in wearing pink to mark the Wear it Pink event in October.   • College one step closer to wedding licence

    The college may be able to host weddings in 2012
    Westwood College have confirmed that they could be staging weddings as early as next year. The college already has planning permission and a premises licence to hold marriage ceremonies at its historic Grade II-listed Old Hall.
